On Thursday 9th October, children at Sythwood Primary and Nursery School celebrated World Sight Day!
They explored what it’s like to rely on senses other than sight by:
- Playing games using blindfolds 🎲
- Creating tactile artwork in teams 🎨
- Learning about vision impairments through hands-on activities 👓
🙏 Thank you to everyone who donated and for FoSS for organising this day. Your contributions help us buy extra resources—like the tactile boards in the KS2 playground—that benefit all children across the school.

Pupil Parliament Voting
It’s been an exciting week at Sythwood as we opened our very own polling station and children cast their votes to elect the Pupil Parliament representative for their class.
This has been a fantastic opportunity for pupils to learn about democracy in action and the importance of using their voice.
We’re delighted to announce that our new Pupil Parliament for 2025/26 has now been elected and was revealed in this afternoon’s assembly.
🎉 Congratulations to all our new representatives! 🎉
We look forward to working with you to make a real difference in our school community.
"I have improved my English and football skills so much. I now go to lots of football tournaments; I have the best sports teachers. I love being a sports leader."
"I’m proud that Sythwood prioritises the emotional, physical & mental wellbeing of our children. We have a staff team who genuinely care about every child and I relish my part in that."
"From the first moment I stepped inside Sythwood, I could feel the incredible energy and potential of these children. Helping them to learn and grow is more than a job for me, it’s a passion."
